Michael Doyle, Swimming Teacher & Assistant Coach

Michael grew up in Shropshire and has been a competitive swimmer for eleven years, starting with Oswestry Otters before spending four years at Ellesmere College Titans then joining Shrewsbury in 2013. He has competed at Regional Championships every year since age 10 and reached Nationals at the age of 12 for 1500 Freestyle, an event for which he still holds an “All Comers” (boys age 12) record for at Sunderland ASC since 2012!

Michael has done numerous Open Water swims during holidays in Lanzarote and has an impressive array of trophies from there to add to his almost 350 medals!

Michael took part in many triathlons between the ages of 13 and 16, coming 3rd in the West Midland Series in 2014.

Away from swimming, Michael has achieved the Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award and held the rank of RSM with CCF (Combined Cadet Force) for his final year at Oswestry School. He’s an accomplished drummer and percussionist and also plays the piano.

Michael started at Bangor University in September 2018 studying Sports Science.

Michael is an ASA Level 2 Swimming Teacher, qualified to teach children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), and a Level 1 Coach. He is a Skills Coach on the County Development Programme 2018.  He is also a Level 2 ASA Swimming Official and a Pool Lifeguard (NPLQ).
