Programme

Entry Form

Forms are to be returned to Danny, Judith, or Neil by Thursday 11th September. Entry forms cannot be accepted after this date.

Please ensure all trophies won at last year’s club championships have been engraved and are returned to Lawson Goodall as soon as possible and at the latest, at the Club Championships. This is to ensure that they are ready to be handed out to the new recipients at the club presentation evening later in the year.

WILL HITS NATIONAL STANDARD!!

Will Slawson has gained his first ever National Qualifying Time (NQT) in the 15/16yrs boys 200 Individual Medley.  Competing at the City Of Sheffield Premier Meet at Ponds Forge at the end of March, amongst numerous events entered, Will dropped a 3 second personal best time to claim his QT for entry in the ASA Summer Nationals this July in Sheffield.  Massive Congratulations to Will!!

Energize Awards update

As part of the club winning Energize Community Club of the Year we have been put through to a West Midland area competition.  As a bit of background the organisers want to come and film the club ‘in action’.  This will be taking place during the Wednesday night A squad session.  This has been cleared with club/ASA welfare policy.  However, if anyone does not want to be filmed they may want to miss this session and pick up another one in the week.  Thanks.

SASC Summer Break!!

Can all Squad swimmers and parents please note that the annual 2 week summer break will commence on MONDAY 5TH AUGUST 2013, with training re-commencing on MONDAY 19TH AUGUST 2013.

The last session on the evening of FRIDAY 2ND AUGUST will be from 5.30-7.30pm for all 3 competitive squads and will be in the form of team fun relays.  Please make every effort to attend this last fun session at the end of this successful season!!!!

Shrewsbury ASC 24 hour swimathon – 13th July 2013

At 9.30am on Saturday 13th July 2013 swimmers from SASC will be starting a 24 hour swim at The Quarry Swimming Centre, Shrewsbury.

Swimming will take place downstairs in the Priory Pool.  Shrewsbury Community Leisure Trust  (SCLT) have kindly donated the pool time free of charge.

The event is being held primarily to raise funds for Cancer Research.  There will also be some funds raised for the club.

There will be designated pool time for all swimmers; development squad, competitive squads, masters and parents.

Obviously such an event will need a lot of help from chaperones, publicity, fundraising, to lap counters!

A fundraising page has been registered and can be found at https://www.justgiving.com/SASC24hrswim/

All offers of assistance will be gratefully received no matter how small. Please contact Dawn Horswood at sascmembership@btinternet.com or speak to her directly at the swimming baths and find out how you will play your part.

ELLIE HITS NATIONAL STANDARD!

The Stockport Metro SC Long Course Meet on Saturday 13th April saw Shrewsbury swimmer Ellie Sykes achieve her first ever National Qualifying time!

Ellie has been a consistent feature at Midland Champs having qualified in each of the last 3 seasons, with 5 MDQT’s this season.  She swam a big personal best last October, where she was a mere 0.5 seconds off the 100m Breast mark to qualify for the season ending Nationals.  On the back of several hours of training week in, week out and a successful training camp in Majorca, she travelled to Stockport and beat her PB by nearly 2 secs, meaning she was well under the required mark. Massive congratulations from the whole club and let the road to the Nationals begin!

Land Training Thursday 7:15 to 8:00PM

A reminder to all A squad and B squad swimmers that your land training session is on a Thursday after your hour in the pool.

It is a great opportunity to improve your strength, flexibility and overall fitness to make you an even better swimmer.

Now that the clocks have changed we are able to go outside and use the Quarry for shuttle runs, circuits, team work and games.

Please ensure you wear appropriate footwear (running shoes) and that you are dressed for the weather (it is quite chilly out there at the moment even in the sun).

If you have any questions then please speak to Danny or Ian Latham.
