Based on her success at last season’s ASA National Age Group Championships, Lucy Armitage has been invited to attend an England Talent Programmes Development Day in November. These development days form the first stage of the swimmer pathway for swimmers in England and many swimmers have gone through the stages on the England Talent Programme and onto International success. This is a huge and well deserved selection and a reflection of her hard work. Well done!!
Huge congratulations to Kate Grindley after she has been named the West Midlands Regional Aquaforce Awards winner for ‘Young Volunteer of the Year’!!!! This is a thoroughly deserved award after her years of coaching and hard volunteer work on poolside with the junior swimmers and junior league team. She received her award on the 20th September and will now go onto receive nomination for the National Young Volunteer of the Year Award, the winner of which will be announced in October.
Will Slawson and Ffion Butler have both been selected onto the AASE (Advanced Apprenticeship in Sporting Excellence) programme. This is a nationally recognised programme that provides the selected athletes, who are from a wide range of sports, with an NVQ at the end of the 2 year programme. Our swimmers have been invited onto it based on their continued sporting dedication and achievements on a National level. Well done to both.
Tom Piggott and Reilly Shanahan have both been invited to join the Home Nations Talent Programme for Wales. This is based upon the big improvements they both made over the last season in their training commitments and racing performances. They will now receive additional support from the Welsh ASA Disability team in the pursuit of their future goals to realise their full potential. Congratulations to both boys.
Could all swimmers who won trophies last year please engrave them and return to Lawson or Claire Goodall as soon as possible. Thanks.
