Shrewsbury Swimming Club is holding its AGM on Friday 14th June 2013. All parents are welcome, and encouraged to attend. This is an opportunity to join the other members of the committee and have your say on how the club is run.
There are a number of vacancies on the committee this year with some long-serving members standing down. To nominate yourself or someone else, with their permission, please send your details, the post you are interested in and the names of the proposer and seconder (must be current committee members) to email@example.com. If you do not know 2 committee members, please indicate your interest anyway, as all help is welcomed.
The full AGM notice is attached here with all the details.
Even if you don’t want to take on a role, please come to the AGM and show your support. The club relies on people regularly giving some of their time to keep it successful and also to keep fees down as much as possible.
At 9.30am on Saturday 13th July 2013 swimmers from SASC will be starting a 24 hour swim at The Quarry Swimming Centre, Shrewsbury.
Swimming will take place downstairs in the Priory Pool. Shrewsbury Community Leisure Trust (SCLT) have kindly donated the pool time free of charge.
The event is being held primarily to raise funds for Cancer Research. There will also be some funds raised for the club.
There will be designated pool time for all swimmers; development squad, competitive squads, masters and parents.
Obviously such an event will need a lot of help from chaperones, publicity, fundraising, to lap counters!
A fundraising page has been registered and can be found at https://www.justgiving.com/SASC24hrswim/
All offers of assistance will be gratefully received no matter how small. Please contact Dawn Horswood at firstname.lastname@example.org or speak to her directly at the swimming baths and find out how you will play your part.

Diddy league round 2 saw us back at the same venue as the first round, Cheslyn Hay, to improve on the 3rd place we earned back in April. And improve the junior team did!! Having learnt from the unfortunate DQ’s that cost us previously, the young swimmers were much more solid in their swims and their overall team performance and it showed in the results! 27 1st places, yes 27!!!, backed up by a further 15 top 3 finishes meant we won on the night with a massive 239 points! This means we have moved up the league table to 5th with a real chance of making the final in September.
The girls 9yrs excelled once again, winning both their relays again, this time with the addition of Darcy Rimmer, whilst Gemma H won the back and fly and Sophia M-E won the Free. A further 9yrs victory came courtesy of Josh Porter in the boys back! Ben T won the 10yrs breast while Woody Goodall took 1st place in the back and the team won both their relays. 11yr old victories came from the girls, with Hattie winning the back and Grace winning both the fly and free and they both teamed up with Josie Adams and Anya Lonergan to win the Medley relay. Not to be outdone, Zac Plant swimming up an age won the 11yrs 50 Fly for the boys. The most successful age group of the night was the 12yrs, with both the boys and girls winning 5 out of their 6 races. The girls took maximum points in both relays along with Orla in the free and breast and Beth Powney in the fly, while the boys again won both relays, plus Tom R in the back and fly and Robbie Jowett in the breast. Finishing off our tally of victories was the girls 8x25m cannon and the gala ending mixed 8×25 cannon.
All swimmers made valuable contributions throughout the evening and the atmosphere again was awesome, as was the support from the travelling parents! Here comes round 3!
